One year ago we decided to
launch Venture Schooling. While we were
attending the 2009 HSC
Homeschooling conference we noticed the wonderful products that our
homeschoolers had created. So I went
around to the parents at the conference and discussed the idea of a storefront
dedicated to selling the products that our homeschoolers create. Many of the families liked the idea, so I
took down their names, email addresses, and phone numbers. I began working on the project and sending
out messages to the various homeschooling support groups. About six families emailed me showing
interest, so I sent them the information which I needed in order to post their
products.
At about this same time my
mother-in-law’s health began to get worse. At the time we had lived with her for five and a half years. Soon she required all of our attention.
I was no longer able to work on the web site. So the idea went by the wayside. She passed away on December 23, 2009. During this time I did find a little bit of time to post the products that our daughters
created, and they have been on the site since last October.
My interest in creating this venue
for our homeschooled children has just been rekindled when we went to the CHN
Homeschooling conference in Ontario,
California, about two weeks ago. There I saw many talented children. So I went to their parents and they and explained our concept. All were very
interested. Now I am contacting these families so that they may sell the products of their children on our website. This will be a safe location for the children to sell their products at absolutely no cost to them.
So now, watch for a
young man who will be selling his greeting cards with his own original pieces of art on them. He created these drawings, and
paintings on large canvases. Then his
mother made copies of the pictures and shrunk them down to be placed on the
front of cards. These are absolutely
beautiful. Or watch for the girls who have made
pieces of original jewelry, or soap, or sachet. I hope to
have these, and many other, products on our website shortly. So please come back often and see what we
have. Also tell your friends, these kids
are working hard and we are giving them a safe venue to sell their
products.
